I have loved this painting ever since I saw it in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, a few years ago, along with many others by A W Hunt.
The sheer technical brilliance portraying this beautiful English scene is simply staggering.
I wish I could have watched and learned from this man how to use the medium of watercolour to this degree of perfection.
To marry craft and vision in this way is true mastery.

As an observer rather than a painter I always thinks trees (and hands) are the signs of techincal mastery. This is such a good painting.
