Great blog! I have a painting that may be connected to the Boer War. It's a portrait of Rudyard Kipling by female artist Irlam Briggs. His head is bandaged and there is some blood dripping down one side, very much like Caton-Woodville's 'Gentleman in Khaki' sketch.
