Albert memorial

I have very mixed feelings about the passion for memorial-building for Albert. On one hand, losing a beloved husband must be unthinkably painful. And never ending. On the other hand, Victoria must have done nothing else in her grieving decades except think about, plan and have memorials executed.

Given his client's needs, I think Sir George Gilbert Scott chose well.

Its an odd quirk of history how much she loved him (obcessed really?) and how much the British just didn't take to him, however hard he tried. I suspect he was too Germanic and professional for their taste. Th British like people to look amateur.
